Purdue assistant professor experiments with the use of ChatGPT on self-driving cars | Local [Video]

Assistant professor, Ziran Wang, and his team have been testing ways to use ChatGPT to perform commands in a self-driving car.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — With newer innovations arriving with ChatGPT and AI, a Purdue professor is taking advantage of it within self-driving cars.

Ziran Wang, assistant professor in the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering, is leading the effort through testing.

Wang has been testing ways to use commands within self-driving cars for daily use. 

“So the command will be sent back from the cloud to our vehicle, so our vehicle can execute a specific command and then allow the vehicle to drive in a more personalized manner,” said Wang.

Wang also claimed that the use of commands can also be useful in urgent matters such as getting the vehicle occupant to a hospital if immediate medical help is needed.
