SCDOT opens lane in big construction project on I-85 in Cherokee County [Video]

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) said it has opened a third northbound lane in Cherokee County as part of the I-85 widening and improvement project.

The new lane is located from mile marker 80 to mile marker 90.

“I want to thank the traveling public and especially the residents of Cherokee and Spartanburg Counties for their patience we work to complete this project,” said Secretary of Transportation, Justin Powell. “I look forward to seeing more progress on this project and others that help move our people and our state forward.”

SCDOT encourages drivers to continue to use caution as crews will still be working to put the final pavement markings on the section of the road.
