Seniors Count initiative aims to offer more resources to seniors heads to voters [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Jackson County Executive Frank White has made it official: voters will see a new tax on their ballot.

It’s called the Seniors Count Initiative, an effort to offer more resources and care for people over the age of 60 in Jackson County.

Some of the resources would include home-delivered meals, social activities, home safety repairs and transportation assistance.

Pace KC is one of several groups that would benefit from a “yes” vote. The wellness center offers personalized care close to home. Seniors said this resource is changing lives.

“It’s wonderful here,” Carol Gibson said. “I was pretty miserable and alone until I came to PACE.”

“Think about what this will mean being able to bring food, shelter, clothing, and security to people you love and care about,” PACE KC Center Director, Jennifer Walker said.
