SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – If you own property in Spartanburg County—listen up, the FBI says property and mortgage fraud is one of the fastest growing crimes in the country. That’s why the county launched a new service to help protect you.
Spartanburg County officials say in most cases, people don’t even know they’re victims of property fraud until it’s too late. This new tool is designed to change that.
“We just live in a digital world where a lot of things are public and it’s easier to get personal information and public records to pose as someone else,” said Ashley Williams, the county Register of Deed.
