Spokane County Sheriff’s Office gets new bodycam technology [Video]

The new technology will use AI to analyze bodycam footage and identify behaviors and language used for de-escalation, use of force and other operations.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office was awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice of nearly $1 million to implement new technology for bodycam data analysis.

The Office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington says the grant allocates $945,520 for a project to use body-worn camera data analysis in SCSO training programs. 

Funding for the grant was awarded by Bureau of Justice Assistance Fiscal Year 2024 Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program to Support Law Enforcement Agencies. 

The project description says the funds will be used to implement artificial intelligence technology called “TrustStat.”
