State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey talks 2025 goals [Video]

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey says he is proud of the improvement Alabama public schools have made over the past year. As we embark on a brand new year the focus remains student success.

“I feel better about where we are than I have in a long time,” said Dr. Eric Mackey.

Mackey says it seems schools in our state are finally bouncing back after the many challenges presented by the pandemic.

“They feel like we’ve kind of gotten over the Covid malaise that lasted for a couple of years, even after we returned to classrooms completely and things seem to be getting more back to what normal was before,” said Mackey.

Mackey says this year one of the top priorities is keeping the consistency in math and reading.
