ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Thousands of students officially became Bulldogs during the University of Georgia’s (UGA) freshman orientation on Tuesday.
Out of more than 43,000 applicants, 6,175 were chosen for the Class of 2028, the school announced. About 80% are Georgia residents, while 25% are first-generation students.
“We are thrilled to welcome this talented and inspiring class of first-year students to the University of Georgia,” UGA President Jere W. Morehead said in a statement. “I look forward to their contributions to our campus, our state and the world as they pursue their diverse academic and career paths at UGA.”
UGA said the incoming class’s average weighted GPA was 4.13, while the average SAT score was 1337 and the average ACT score was 30. Officials released a video of the freshman assembling into the school’s iconic “G” logo on Sanford Stadium’s Dooley Field, a yearly tradition.
