Returning to work after the festive season sparks ‘New Year, new career’ resolutions for many of us. But with the job market as it is – with morecompetition than we’ve seen in years – it’s difficult to know where to start.

Well, fear not, as LinkedIn’s 2025 Jobs on the Rise list can give you a steer on the hottest roles employers are desperate to hire for.

The platform analysed millions of jobs started by LinkedIn members from January 1, 2022 to July 31, 2024, to find out the fastest-growing positions and the most in-demand skills.

Nearly 55% of roles on the list didn’t exist 25 years ago, with new technology making a huge impact on the jobs being created.

But according to its findings, you’d be wise to get clued up in artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainability specifically, as both of these areas dominated the rankings.
