The Easy Way to Plan Your Content with AI

Have you ever wished to whip up a whole content plan using AI in minutes? Well, now you can! I’ve created a simple AI content strategy that you can copy. In this post, we’ll walk through the A to Z process of how I use AI to create content plans and topic maps. You’ll learn how to easily plan out what to generate week by week or even day by day.

1. Find Subtopics for Your Niche

The first step is to figure out subtopics within your main niche. You should already know your niche and who you’re trying to help. Let’s say your niche is “stress.” We’ll ask an AI tool (like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini) to give us 5-10 subtopics related to stress. This helps us narrow our focus so we’re not trying to cover too much at once.

Example Prompt:

“Give me 5-10 subtopics related to the stress niche.”
Possible Subtopics:

Stress management techniques
Stress and mental health
Work-related stress
Stress and physical health
Stress in relationships
2. Create Pillar Content for a Subtopic

Now, pick one subtopic to focus on. We’ll ask the AI to give us 5 pillar topics for that subtopic. These will be the cornerstone pieces of your content plan.

Example Prompt:

“Give me 5 pillar topics for the subtopic of work-related stress.”
Possible Pillar Topics:

The Ultimate Guide to Managing Stress at Work
How to Create a Stress-Free Work Environment
The Impact of Work Stress on Mental and Physical Health
Work-Life Balance: Strategies for Reducing Stress
Mindfulness at Work: Techniques for Staying Calm and Focused
3. Brainstorm Viral Titles

Next, we’ll ask the AI to generate viral title ideas for our pillar topics. These will usually be list-style articles.

Example Prompt:

“Give me 5 viral title ideas for the pillar topic ‘The Ultimate Guide to Managing Stress at Work’. Make them list-style articles.”
Possible Viral Titles:

10 Simple Stress Relief Techniques You Can Try at Your Desk
7 Ways to Beat Work Stress and Boost Productivity
5 Signs You’re Experiencing Work Burnout (and How to Recover)
The Top 3 Stress-Busting Habits of Successful People
How to Say No at Work Without Feeling Guilty
4. Identify Pain Points and Create How-To Content

Now, let’s dig deeper into your audience’s pain points. We’ll ask the AI to list 25 pain points related to your subtopic. Then, we’ll turn each pain point into a how-to statement.

Example Prompt:

“List 25 pain points that people experience with work-related stress.”
Example Pain Point & How-To Statement:

Pain Point: Feeling overwhelmed by a heavy workload
How-To Statement: How to Prioritize Tasks and Manage Your Time Effectively
5. Generate Product Category Content (if applicable)

If you’re promoting products or services, let’s generate some product category content. We’ll ask the AI for 5-10 “best of” product category ideas for your subtopic.

Example Prompt:

“Give me 10 ‘best of’ product category ideas for the subtopic of work-related stress.”
Possible Product Category Ideas:

Best Stress-Relief Gadgets for Your Workspace
Best Apps for Managing Work Stress and Anxiety
Top 5 Books on Work-Life Balance
Best Online Courses for Stress Management
Best Essential Oils for Reducing Stress
Repeat and Scale

Repeat these steps for all your other subtopics. By the end, you should have 200+ content ideas! This AI content strategy covers all aspects of your niche, helping you create a mix of authoritative content, helpful how-to guides, and (if applicable) product recommendations.

Organize Your Content Plan

Use a project management tool (like Trello, Asana, or even a Google Sheet) to organize your content ideas. Add due dates, labels, and checklists to keep track of your progress.

That’s it! You’ve just created an AI content strategy.
