London has welcomed the world’s first TV dinners restaurant, a pop-up designed to serve dishes that are scientifically crafted to enhance the diner’s viewing experience.
The Holborn-based temporary eatery is part of UKTV’s initiative to promote its new streaming service, U.
UKTV spokesperson Penny Brough said: “To celebrate the launch of U, we wanted to bring the range of content to the public through a culinary immersive experience.”
She added, “Given that the British public love a TV dinner it seemed the perfect match for this unique dining-viewing experience.”
Food scientist Dr Stuart Farrimond and Michelin-trained chef Sam Brotchie were tasked with selecting the dishes on offer.
Together, they experimented with various recipes and flavour combinations to devise a menu that aims to stimulate the senses.
