ROCHESTER, Minn. – Fall classes started today at the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR). Amidst classes starting UMR leaders are also working on expanding their campus.
UMR will present their Climate and Action Plan next week to the Board of Regents. Chancellor Lori Carrell says some programs they plan to add are AI in Healthcare, Psychology and Psychiatry. They also plan on expanding and remodeling their classrooms for faculty and student interaction.
With Mayo Clinic’s plan for expansion and Minnesota’s growing need for healthcare Carrell says they want to get students into the workforce.
“There’s so many places in Minnesota who do not have the health care that they need because they cannot find the professionals to serve the healthcare needs and what we do here is develop student interests,” said Carrell.
