UWF Dean David Bellar said this project has been in the works for 18 months, making it UWF’s first off-campus center for nurses.
The center on Bayou Boulevard is designed to take students after their first semester as a nursing student on the UWF campus and bridge them into the Ascension Sacred Heart location where they can begin the immersive experience.
Dr. Bellar said there will constantly be a group of UWF students in Ascension’s center.
This program will expose young nurses to a different kind of leadership that Dr. Bellar said they may not typically receive at a standard clinical rotation at a hospital.
