A grand jury has indicted several Iranians for charges linked to hacking former US presidentDonald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. The federal charges arise from an Iranian operation that reportedly stole internal communications from the Trump campaign during the summer, according to three individuals familiar with the investigation who requested anonymity as they were not permitted to discuss the matter, as reported by Reuters.
Trump, who is campaigning for a second four-year term in the White House, stated on Wednesday that Iran might be involved in recent assassination attempts against him. He added that if he were president and another nation threatened a US presidential candidate, that country could face severe consequences.
In response, Iran declared on Thursday that the claims regarding its targeting of former US officials were unfounded.
