WALMART CEO John Furner has expressed optimism about the rise of artificial intelligence in retail, revealing the company is using a “digital twin” to plan store layouts.
Furner gave the opening address to the National Retail Federation’s annual conference held in New York City, speaking about the state of the industry, how Walmart workers helped during the recent fires and the sector’s bounce back following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Furner was then joined on stage by NVIDIA Vice President and General Manager Azita Martin, to discuss the use of AI in retail and the importance of taking risk.
The comments come as the retail sector undergoes a huge transformation, with major brands including Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Starbucks rolling out new technologies across the board to help streamline operations.
