EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX)—The numerous Xcel Energy crews sent to Georgia last week are now in Florida to help with Hurricane Milton relief. That includes crews from Wisconsin that rolled out of Eau Claire. At last check, they were in Tallahassee awaiting instruction from the Tampa Electric Company. As of this morning (10/10/24), 600,000 of the more than 800,000 customers were without power.
Going from one natural disaster to another is an enormous task. However, Xcel Energy Control Manager Brad Polacek says the line workers are up for the job, “I guess one thing too is patience, right? We all know that these things could take time and there’s lots of folks that were affected. The only thing we can do is help the best we can and hope for the best.”
